This paper presents a method of generating sets of orthogonal and zero-correlation zone (ZCZ) periodic real-valued sequences of period 2(n), n >= 1. The sequences admit a fast correlation algorithm and the sets of sequences achieve the upper bound on family size. A periodic orthogonal sequence has the periodic autocorrelation function with zero sidelobes, and a set with orthogonal sequences whose mutual periodic crosscorrelation function at zero shift is zero. Similarly, a ZCZ set is the set of the sequences with zero-correlation zone. In this paper, we derive the real-valued periodic orthogonal sequences of period 2" from a real-valued Huffman sequence of length 2(v) + 1, v being a positive integer and v >= n, whose aperiodic autocorrelation function has zero sidelobes except possibly at the left and right shift-ends. The orthogonal and ZCZ sets of real-valued periodic orthogonal sequences are useful in various systems, such as synchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, quasi-synchronous CDMA systems and digital watermarkings.

A Quasi-synchronous CDMA system using a ZCZ code called a ZCZ-CDMA system can remove co-channel interferences, simplify hardware design, and achieve fast (less latency) transmission, due to enhancement in Frame synchronization techniques. Inter-symbol interference and co-channel interference appearing in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels influence the bit error rate performance. This paper proposes a ZCZ-CDMA system with block coding and channel estimation techniques to improve the performance. © 2011 IEEE.

The optical ZCZ code, which is a set of pairs of binary and biphase sequences with zero correlation zone, can provide code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system without co-channel interference. The M-ary amplitude shift keying spread spectrum (M-ary/ASK-SS) system using this code can detect a desired sequence without interference of undesired sequences. We have proposed the compact construction of a matched filter bank for this code, which is called the compact-type matched filter bank. However, M-ary/ASK-SS system using this filter bank might go down the bit error rate (BER) performance because input-output characteristics of this filter bank for this code with zero correlation zone 4n-2 are nonlinear characteristics. In this paper, we clarify that BER performance in the M-ary/ASK-SS system over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels is not influenced by nonlinear characteristics of this filter bank by the theoretical formula of BER characteristics and the computer simulation. The BER performance in the ASK-SS system using compact-type matched filter under the AWGN environment go down compared to that using direct-type matched filter as expected. But the BER performance in the M-ary/ASK-SS system using this compact-type matched filter bank under the AWGN environment is almost equal compared to that using parallel-type matched filter bank. In fact, this compact-type matched filter bank is effective in the M-ary/ASK-SS system. © 2011 IEEE.

It has been shown that complete complementary codes can be applied into CDMA communication systems because of its good correlation properties. A digital watermarking scheme using complete complementary codes has also been proposed. In this watermarking scheme, it is possible to embed the multiple secret data in a single image at the same time, but the effectiveness and the limit of the method has not been fully explored. In this study, the properties of the watermarking method are analyzed when the multiple secret ID's are embedded into a single image simultaneously. The paper also includes the discussion on the extension to a kind of steganography. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper presents a generation method of an orthogonal set of real-valued periodic orthogonal sequences which has fast correlation algorithm. The periodic orthogonal sequence has the periodic autocorrelation function with zero sidelobes, and its orthogonal set is the set of the sequences whose periodic crosscorrelation function of the zero shift is zero. The real-valued periodic orthogonal sequence of period N = 2n with positive integer n is derived from a real-valued Huffman sequences of length M = 2ν + 1 with positive integer ν and ν ≥ n which has the aperiodic autocorrelation function with zero sidelobes except at left and right shift-ends. The set of real-valued periodic orthogonal sequences can be sufficiently applied to various systems, such as synchronous CDMA systems and digital watermarkings. ©2011 IEEE.

Complete complementary code can be applied to digital watermarking technologies as well as communication systems like approximately synchronized CDMA because of its good correlation properties. In this paper, we propose a blind watermarking algorithm which does not need to refer any original data in the watermark extraction process. We also discuss the analogy between the proposed watermarking scheme and CT-CDMA communication systems based on complete complementary codes. In addition, some extensions of the proposed watermarking method and future problems are discussed in the paper. ©2011 IEEE.

In this paper we proposed the compact construction of a matched filter for integrand code which do not require the high rate clock pulse in two valued PWM (pulse width modulation) code using a real valued shift orthogonal finite length sequence which has a sharp aperiodic autocorrelation function with zero sidelobes except at left and right shift ends This matched filters are implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) corresponding to 400 000 logic gates A proposed matched filter for the sequence of length 129 can be constructed by the circuit scale of about 47% compared with conventional filter
