Abstract.　Land snails have considerable geographic variations because of their low mobility. They have been
extensively studied as popular research targets for speciation, adaptive radiation, and biogeography. Satsuma
tanegashimae (Camaenidae), which has a wide distribution in the Satsunan Islands (Uji Islands, Kusagaki Islands,
Mishima Islands, Osumi Islands and Tokara Islands), exhibits great geographic variations. This extensive variation
is favorable to deal in these issues. In addition, the Tokara islands, located in the middle of the Satsunan islands,
have biogeographic importance as the boundary between two biogeographic regions. For this reason, grasping
intra-specific variation in S. tanegashimae through integration of various approaches, including analyses of
shell and assessment of genetic variation is of great significance. In this study, We analyzed sequences of the
mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) gene (626bp) in Satsuma tanegashimae snails sampled from
the Satsunan islands and compared the variation in shell morphologies to determine whether such variations
parallel genetic differentiation. The geographic distributions of COI haplotypes corresponded to those of shell
characters. Therefore, it remains possible that shell morphology was reflected in the lineage.

Abstract.　The traditional classification of land snails has heavily relied to the comparative morphology of shell.
However, shell characters are susceptible convergence due to similar ecological requirements or can be highly
variable due to geographic isolation and random genetic drift. Therefore, the information based on only shell
morphologies is not enough for definite identification. Recent studies are conducted by integration of various
approaches, including analyses of shell and anatomical characters and assessment of genetic variation. Those
studies provided new imformations into existent classification. Moreover, land snails invite regional differentiation
because of their low mobility. Therefore, they provide informative information for biogeographical study. The
genus Cyclophorus has a wide-ranging distribution from Southeast Asia to East Asia and belongs to terrestrial
prosobrances having a operculum. The intraspecific shell morphology of this genus is variable. Five Cyclophorus
species inhabit Kagoshima prefecture; Cyclophorus herklotsi MARTENS, 1860, Cyclophorus hirasei PILSBRY,
1901, Cyclophorus oshimanus KURODA, 1928, Cyclophorus kikaiensis PILSBRY, 1902, Cyclophorus turgidus
(PFEIFFER, 1851). These five species that previously had been described on the basis of shell characters only.
The phylogenetic relationship of these species has never studied before. The objective of this study was to revise
the five Cyclophorus species which inhabit Kagoshima prefecture by using molecular phylogenetic approaches.
I sequenced 516bp of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene in the genus Cyclophorus and
constructed phylogenetic trees, using Neighbor-joining method and Maxumim-likelihood method. Sequences of
Amami-oshima devided Cyclophorus into two groups largely. One group was composed Cyclophorus from the
north peninsula named ʻKasari-hantoʼ of Amami-oshima. The other group was composed of Cyclophorus from the
middle part of Amami-oshima to Tokuno-shima. To identify species of this genus, it is the most effective tool to
use molecular phylogeny analyses.

Abstract. Pirenella pupiformis Ozawa & Reid, 2016 belonging to the Potamididae is a tidal snail, is distributed
along the west coast of the Pacific Ocean from Honshu to Kyushu, Japan. Seasonal change in the the pattern
of internal growth lines of the shell of this species were investigated in a tidal zone of Kiire, Kyusyu island,
Japan. Shell samples were collected monthly from Decmber 2014 and 2015 in the tidal flat along the Kiire coast
of Kagoshima Bay. Shells were polished by a grinder, and internal growth lines located near shell apex were
observed in section samples with a digital microscope. This species matures in the second year and forms Lip in
shell. As the size of shell became larger. Growth of shell stops in individual with Lip formation. This species
forms two white internal growth lines caused by a delay of growth of shell during one year. Individual which
growth of shell stopped regularly forms two growth lines every year. These results show that the number of
internal growth lines remains constant after the growth of shell stops. Therefore, the age cannot be determined in
these fully-grown individuals. According to our analysis of the internal growth lines of the shell, estimation of the
accurate age of this snail seems impossible by means of shell size.

submandarina (Bradybaenidae), which has a wide distribution in the Satsunan Islands, exhibits great geographic
variations. This extensive variation is favorable to deal in these issues, whereas it often causes taxonomic
confusion among closely related species. In addition, the Tokara islands, located in the middle of the Satsunan
islands, have biogeographic importance as the boundary between two biogeographic regions. For this reason,
grasping intra-specific variation in P. submandarina through integration of various approaches, including analyses
of shell and anatomical characters and assessment of genetic variation is of great significance. In this study, I
analyzed sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) gene (626bp) in Phaeohelix snails
sampled from the Satsunan islands and compared the variation in shell and genital morphologies to determine
whether such variations parallel genetic differentiation. The geographic distributions of COI haplotypes
corresponded to those of genital characters, whereas differentiation in shell morphology was slight, if any. On
the basis of revision of Phaeohelix snails distribution in the Satsunan Islands, P. submandarina ranges beyond
the Tokara Channel. This result differs from previous studies on the land snail fauna of this region. Therefore,
it remains possible that genital morphology was reflected in the lineage, whereas the geographic variation of
shell morphology was affected by environmental rather than genetic factors. Identification of species by shell
morphology alone is at high risk of misunderstanding. In addition, the present study revealed that the populations
of Kuro-shima, Iô-jima, Take-shima, Uji-guntô, and Kusagaki-guntô are similar to P. miyakejimana, distributed in
the Izu islands, in genital morphology. The view that land snails may have been dispersed by ocean current would
explain the close relationship between widely separated populations.

「数理・データサイエンス・AI教育プログラム：リテラシーレベル」に対する
鹿児島大学の取り組みについて

1．はじめに
　「数理・データサイエンス・AI教育プログラム（MDASH）：リテラシーレベル」は内閣府，文部科学省及び経済産業省が令和3年度に創設した認定事業で，文理を問わず学生がその素養を身に着けることを目的としている。鹿児島大学でも教育プログラム名「文理横断・数理データサイエンスAI 教育導入プログラム」を令和2年度から整備してきた。本教育プログラムを履修することで，
(1) 数理データサイエンスAIの技術によって，社会および日常生活が大きく変化していることを理解し，そこから生み出される新たな価値を説明できる能力
(2) 膨大なデータの集積（ビックデータ）によって新たな雇用や産業分野が生じている現状を説明できる能力
(3) データの特徴を見出し，そこにある事象・背景・意味合いを説明できるとともに，その適切な分析手法を判断できる能力
を身に着けられる内容となっている。
令和4年5月に申請し，本教育プログラムを含め139件が令和4年8月にリテラシーレベルの認定をうけた。すでに令和3年度に認定をうけている78件を合わせると，現在217件の教育プログラムがリテラシーレベルに認定されている。

2．背景
鹿児島大学は令和３年度に文部科学省が進める「数理・データサイエンス・AI 教育の全国展開の推進」事業で特定分野校（理工農学）に認定された。ただし認定条件として令和4年度の「リテラシーレベル」への申請が課されていた。教養教育を統括する本学共通教育センターでは独自に申請準備を進めていたが1)，このような事情から令和4年度での申請が必須となり，4人のセンター専任教員からなるワーキング・グループ（MDASH-WG）が組織され申請に向けたより具体的な作業に取り掛かった。
実際の教育プログラムの運用に対しては，“教育プログラム科目”を定めて教育を行っていく必要がある。文部科学省が示している「リテラシーレベル」における認定要件の一つに「学生に広く実施される教育プログラム（全学開講）」という項目があるが，これは教育プログラム科目が理系文系を問わず在学するすべての学生に向けて開講されていること，また教育プログラム科目を実施した実績と，その履修率の高さが要求されている。この認定要件を満たすために，教育機関によっては情報系の科目を新設したところも多いと聞いている。
鹿児島大学ではMDASH-WGで議論を重ねた結果，すでに開講している教養科目「情報活用」（2単位）の1科目を教育プログラム科目とし運用する方針となった。鹿児島大学には文系・理系合わせて九つの学部があるが，「情報活用」は初年次における全学必修科目である。「情報活用」の起源は，平成8年に「情報科学科目」が共通教育全学必修科目として取り入れられたことに端を発しており(図-1)，上記した「リテラシーレベル」の目的に通ずる“情報科学の素養を文理を問わず全学生に”といった思想的土壌が鹿児島大学にはすでにあったといえる。












3．教育プログラム科目「情報活用」の取り組み
令和2年度からはMDASHの内容を盛り込んだ，現行内容の「情報活用」がスタートした。実際の授業は各部局・学科の専任教員による全学体制で(図-2)，35を超えるクラスで行われている。











教育プログラムが認定されるためには文部科学省が提供しているモデルカリキュラムに記載された内容（スキルセット）のいくつかを教育プログラム科目に取り入れることが求められている。このため従来行ってきた「情報活用」の内容について，ある程度の改定を行う必要があった。改定作業を行うに当たっては，講義における担当教員の個人裁量が十分確保できること，改定によって担当教員に過度な負担がかからないことを重要視し作業を進めた。
具体的な授業内容の構成は，1~8回の授業回では電子メールや文書作成・プレゼンテーション・表計算アプリケーションの扱い方といった基本的な情報スキルを学ぶ。9~11回の授業内容はクラスごとで異なり，各部局で今後必要とされる情報スキルを重点的に学んでいる。12~15回の4回はモデルカリキュラムのスキルセットを取り入れたMDASHを意識した内容となっており，データサイエンスおよび統計学と関わる専門性が比較的高い授業回である。このため指導方法に不安を持つ授業担当教員も多いことが予想された。そこでMDASH-WGでは12~15回の授業回ではビデオコンテンツを企画・制作し，実際の授業現場で役立ててもらうこととした。
12回の授業回では“情報倫理とセキュリティー”を取り扱う。MDASH-WGでは，鹿児島大学情報基盤統括センターへビデオコンテンツの製作をお願いした。学内で実際に起こった事例を多く取り上げ，本学に在学する受講生たちに他人事でないことを実感してもらえるような内容となっている。13回の授業回では“社会で活用されているデータサイエンス”を概観する(図-3)。受講生の世代が普段使用しているITサービスやアプリケーションを事例として多く取り入れ，関心を持ってもらえるような内容となっている。また発展的課題として，ビッグデータをテーマとしたグループ討論も推奨している。14~15回の授業回では“統計学に関わる基礎・応用的内容”を取り扱う。オープンデータの取得方法や，データの可視化（散布図の描き方）から始まり，データからどういったことがわかるのか（相関・相関関数，回帰直線）といった内容を演習も取り入れながらステップ・バイ・ステップで学んでいく。このため文系の受講生にとっても統計学の知識とスキルを無理なく身に着けられるようなコンテンツとなっている。













MDASH-WGで制作したこれらの授業コンテンツは，鹿児島大学が平成29年度から全学体制で導入しているクラウド型教育支援システム:manaba（株式会社朝日ネット）を通じて各授業担当教員に配布されている。今後はリテラシーレベルの多くのスキルセットに対応できるように授業コンテンツを充実させていく予定である。

4．今後の課題
　本教育プログラムの課題として，主に三つが挙げられる。一つ目は，県内の大学，短大，高等専門学校といった教育機関との連携体制づくりである。前述のように文部科学省では文系・理系を問わず，全学生がリテラシーレベルを修得することを目指している。鹿児島県全域の教育効果を高めるためには県内の関係教育機関との全体的な協力が必須と考えている。二つ目に県内産業界との連携体制づくりである。リテラシーレベルでは産業界と連携した教育内容も強く求められていることから，県内産業界と意見を交わしながら連携体制を構築し，実践的な事例を本プログラムの教育コンテンツとして取り入れていきたい。最後に，いわゆる「2025年問題」への対応である。学習指導要領の改訂に伴い，高校の情報科目は「情報I」が必修科目に，また発展的内容の「情報II」が選択科目となった。これらの科目を履修した学生が令和7年度（2025年）から大学へ入学してくるが，こういった学生達にとっては現行のリテラシーレベルの教育プログラム内容は必ずしも満足が得られるものではない。このため県内の高等学校とも連携しながら，高校の情報科目における授業内容とシームレスにつながるように内容の見直しを進めていきたい。

5．おわりに
　数理・データサイエンス・AI教育プログラムは内閣府により提言された「AI戦略2019」に基づき創設された。この中で2025年度における「リテラシーレベル」の到達目標として年間50万人の修得を掲げているが，この人数は文系・理系を問わず，すべての大学・短大・高等専門学校の学生数と一致している。換言すれば，我が国は「数理・データサイエンス・AI教育」が，大学で学び身に着けるべき“ジェネリックスキル”の一つであることを明確に示したものと言える。今後も数理・データサイエンス・AI教育プログラムが重要視され続けることは間違いない。一方で，この分野の技術の進展は急速で，教育プログラムの内容が時代遅れなものとならないように教員の知識・技能も常にアップデートしておく必要がある。

Résumé: Distribué sur toute la côté Ouest de l’ocean Pacifique à partir de l’aire la plus au sud du Tohoku.Cerithidea rhizophorarum (Adams,1855) appartienent à l’espéce de coquillages unisexés. Ils vivent dans les forêt de palétuvier à la sèche. Dans la ville de Kire (Prefecture de Kagoshima) on les trouve dans l’embouchure de la rivière Atago oû il y a une forêt de palétuvier consistent de Kandelia candel (Druce) et Hibiscus hamabo (Sieb.et Zucc.) . On peut y voir les C. rhizophorarum s’accoupler et escalder les arbres. J’ai observé l’accouplement, l’escalade et le comportement des C. rhizophorarum dans cet endroit. J’ai construit trois stations d’observation à 60m de la rive de la rivière. Tous les mois j’ai ramassé au hasard mais dans endroit defini des C. rhizophorarum . Je les ai comptés et les ai mesurés. Pendant toutecette période je n’ai pas noté de grand changement dans le nombre des C. rhizophorarum . J’ai observé les accouplements au mois de juillet et d’aôut 2002. En patrolant toutes les toutes les 15minutes. J’ai placé un petit drapeau à côté des paires de C. rhizophorarum qui s’accouplaient. Quand les C. rhizophorarum se séparaient, j’ai supposé que l’accouplement était terminé. J’ai noté et chronometré le temps du debut à la fin de l’accouplement. Je me suis apperçu que le plus grand nombre d’accouplements se faisait: -l’après-midi entre 1et 2 heures avant la marée basse la nuit 2heures avant et après (la marée basse) sous la pluie, je n’ai observé qu’un nombre très faible d’accouplements. Pour observer l’escalade des arbres des C. rhizophorarum j’ai installé une station de 100㎡ dans la forêt de palétuvier (particulierement des K. candel) J’ai comparé le nombre de C. rhizophorarum qui escaladaient les K. candel et ceux qui étaient au sol. J’ai étudié le mouvement des C. rhizophorarum en comptant le nombre de C. rhizophorarum qui escaladaient les K. candel en une journée, en été et en hiver. Les résultats sont les suivants : -l’été les escalades sont nombreuses. -l’hiver elles sont rares.

Abstract: Cerithidea rhizophorarum is a dioecious snail that belongs to the family Potamididae and is distributed in various parts of the western Pacific Ocean from the Tohoku region to the south of Japan. Generally, Cerithidea rhizophorarum inhabits the tidal flat mud of reed beds and mangrove forests. A mangrove forest consisting especially of Kandelia obovata and Hibiscus hamabo spreads out on the estuary tidal flat of the Atago River that flows through Kiirecho, Kagoshima City. In the tidal flat, the reproductive behavior and tree climbing behavior of Cerithidea rhizophorarum have been observed. In this study, we investigated the life history, reproductive behavior, and tree climbing behavior of Cerithidea rhizophorarum in the site. Firstly, three survey stations were set on the estuary tidal flat, 60m away from and orthogonal to the shoreline. The snails were randomly collected every month at each station, and the number and size of the appearing individuals were recorded. From the results, it was found that there was no introduction of new individuals. Secondly, mating behavior was observed in July and August 2002. The observation of mating behavior was conducted as follows : patrolling the surveying the area every 15 minutes; setting a flag mark nearby and recording the time as a stating time when a mating pair was found; and recording the time as an end time, when the separation of the pair is observed. The frequency of mating peaked about one to two and a half hours before the lowest tide in the daytime. At night, the frequency was relatively high in the two hours before and after the lowest tide. Almost no mating pair was observed when it was raining. Moreover, the observation of the tree climbing behavior was carried out in an area of 100 m2 where the species Kandelia obovate was dominant. The number of Cerithidea rhizophorarum attached to Kandelia obovata in the area was recorded and compared with the fluctuation of the number of individuals on the ground surface. In addition, we recorded hourly population fluctuations to investigate what kind of diurnal activity this species has in summer and winter. As a result, the number of Cerithidea rhizophorarum on the tidal flats was important from early spring to summer, while the diurnal activities were hardly seen in the winter in this area. Also, the diurnal activities on climbing trees were more active in the summer.

Abstract. Becaouse the local speciation of land snail often informs intra-specific variation, we investigated
the intra-specific variation of Stereophaedusa addisoni (Pilsbry, 1901) in a sample of 261 shells from 10 plants
in Kagoshima, Japan, and the usefulness of measuring and classifying S. addisoni by shell characteristics.
Following the measurement methods of kameda et al., Urabe, and Tomiyama, we determined the distance between
populations according to the Euclidean distance and Mahalanobis distance between the values of each variable.
We performed cluster analysis the numerical values generated and grouped by each population, and with clusters
based on the three measurement methods, we grouped samples of Kagoshima and Aira, northern Satstuma District,
and southern Satsuma District respectively. Because those variations are categories of intrapopulation variation,
the populations were not determined to be subspecies, which suggests the impossibility of distinguishing mainland
populations of land snails according to shell form only.

Abstract
Becaouse of the local speciation of fresh water snail’s often informs intra- and inter-populatoion variations, we investigated the inter-population variation of Semisulcospira (Semisulcospira) libertina (Gould, 1859) and the usefulness of classifying and measuring Semisulcospira libertina with the shell measurement of a sample of 494 shells of 15 plants at Kagoshima, Japan. We determined the distance between populations according to the Euclidean distance and Maharanobis distance between the average values of each variable using the measurement methods of Kameda et al., Urabe, and Tomiyama. We performed cluster analysis based on the numerical values generated and grouped of each population. With clusters based on the three measurement methods, we grouped samples of Atago-gawa and Tanuki-gawa, Hshida-gawa and Kimotsuki-gawa, and Ooyodo-gawa respectively. Because these variations are categories of intra-population variation, these populations are not considered to be subspecies. Accordingly, it is impossible to distinguish mainland populations by analyzing shell form only.

Abstract
"Student skills education " refers to programmatic education that allows students to acquire common sense as members of society. Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has made much of “student skills education” in elementary and high school. Now, social initiatives have vigorously called for Japan’s universities to guarantee the quality of higher education. Diverse expectations in Japanese society position universities as “pawns of education” and committees of the Japanese government have reported some grand designs along those lines. One proposes student skills education as part : “a program that lets students acquire social common sense in the field at the urging of society”. The field encompasses a wide range of subjects, including “research ethics”, “career development”, “information security”, “consumer practices”, “fundamental human rights”, “intellectual property rights”, “sovereign education” and “land tax”. In particular, Japanese society needs to improve human rights education for the younger generation due to the rise of racism and hate speech against minority groups in Japan. At Kagoshima University, some student skills education had already commenced in various elective courses in 2019, along with education about information security, Internet ethics, and dependency (e.g., on drugs) taught in mandatory courses. Against that background, following a plan developed by the Institute for Comprehensive Education, student skills education became a required subject at Kagoshima University in 2020. Some important topics in student skills education include research ethics, career development (e.g. career education, citizenship education, and land tax education), and legal affairs (e.g., human rights education, copyright education, consumer education, and work rule education). Such student skills education has been incorporated in this mandatory startup seminar at Kagoshima University.

要旨
ステューデントスキル教育とは、研究倫理・キャリア・情報セキュリティ・消費者・人権・知財・主権者・租税・依存症対策等、「社会からの要請に焦点化した」「個別のいわゆる現代的な課題やテーマに焦点化した教育」の総称である。鹿児島大学においては、2019年度に、このステューデントスキル教育を初年次必修科目（初年次セミナー）に導入することが決定された。その当初の案は、(1) 倫理関連分野、(2) キャリア教育分野、(3) 法務関連分野について2コマずつ、計6コマを必修化するというものであった。しかし、それを実行に移しそうとした矢先、COVID-19の影響により授業計画を変更せざるを得ず、2020年度後期現在は、計4コマに圧縮されている。

Abstract
In recent years, mathematical and data science has become increasingly important at all levels of study and in our society at large.　At base, data science involves analyzing various data using mathematics and information science as a source of knowledge. Given its rising significance, comprehensively understanding and studying data science in the coming years will prove pivotal. Accordingly, in May, 2019, the Japanese government mathematical and data science a mandatory subject at all universities in Japan. Later that year, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology requested universities nationwide to collaborate in making data science a compulsory subject, the initial site for which was Kagoshima University. Following a plan developed by the Institute for Comprehensive Education, mathematical and data science thus became a required subject at Kagoshima University in 2020. As a result, three phases of curricula were developed to be implemented. First, basic mathematical and data science is to be taught in the first half year of enrollment. Second, statistics taught to second year students will impart knowledge about applying mathematical and data science. Last, the specialized learning of mathematical and data science will be taought in a specialized course in each department. The curriculum plan was approved.

要旨
　現在、AIやビックデータの処理といった新たな情報科学分野が発展しつつあり、日常生活においても急速に浸透しつつある。これらの分野を扱う基礎科学は数理データサイエンスと呼ばれており、大学においても全大学生の必須の知識として身につけることが求められている。鹿児島大学では、数理データサイエンス教育（以下DS教育と略す）を全学必修科目として教える事が計画され、2020年度から実行に移された。鹿児島大学におけるDS教育の全学必修化は、2019年度5月から共通教育センターにより計画立案されたが、異例の短期間で実施することができた。鹿児島大学におけるDS教育の教育プログラム具体化の過程を、他校の事例の調査、各学部との折衝、鹿児島大学独自案の策定、各種会議の承認、などの観点からまとめた。また、DS教育の基本プログラムとして、1年次に全学必修科目となっている「情報活用」にDS教育の初歩的内容として組み込み、１・2年次に主に理系学部で準必修科目となっている「基礎統計学入門」をDS教育の応用的内容として位置づけ、各学部の専門課程で行われるDS教育の専門的内容につなげていく、積み上げ式のカリキュラム内容を示した。

数理データサイエンス教育を鹿児島大学の全学必修化導入に至る経緯と今後の見通し

「数理データサイエンス」の立ち上げの問題
　総理大臣直轄の教育再生諮問会議における第11次答申に基づき、「数理データサイエンス」を、小中高大学において、文系理系を問わず必修科目として履修させることが閣議決定された。背景には、AIやビックデータの処理で米国・中国に先行された産業界の強い焦りがあるとされている。それを受けて、全国の大学では、既に取り組みが始まっている。全国の拠点大学6校（北大・東大・京大・滋賀大・阪大・九大：九州地区は九州大学が主導）に加え、協力大学20校が始めている。
鹿児島大学の2019年5月段階での状況
　2019年4月の段階で、先行する国立大学では、早い大学では4年前から数理データサイエンス教育の導入が図られており、九州地区の複数の国立大学でも、パイロット授業が試験導入の形で数理データサイエンス教育が始まっていた。2019年5月に大分で開催された「12大学教養教育実施組織代表者会議」「国立大学教養教育実施組織会議」においても、全国の国立大学の多くでの数理データサイエンス教育の導入の状況が判り、鹿児島大学の導入の遅れが浮き彫りとなった。
これらの状況を受け、鹿児島大学で速やかに数理データサイエンス教育の全学必修化を実現するにはどのような方策が適切か検討を始めた。過去に、同様な低学年次の必修科目として「初年次教育」の導入が図られた経緯があった。この場合、新たな科目を全学で立ち上げる事態となり、「教養セミナー」の名称で開始した新科目は、約3年間かけても全学必修化ができなかった。その後、学長交代によって遅れたという事情もあったが、新規に企画した「初年次セミナー」も全学必修化の導入に至るまでに約2年間を要したという先例があった。鹿児島大学は、理工系７学部、文系2学部を擁する総合大学のため、全学部の了解を得るためにはかなりの時間を要する。このため、数理データサイエンス教育を全学必修化で導入するにあたっては、かなりの準備期間が必要であることが予測された。また、2019年夏に公表され、約1年間かけて修正が行われるという「統計学の専門教員のいない大学を念頭に置き、文系の先生でも誰でも教えられるモデル案」を導入せざるを得ない状況に至る前に、独自の授業展開を行う必要性もあった。このため、今回は、(1)新たな科目は立ち上げず、既存の科目を利用する、(2)全学必修化に至る手続きには約１年以上の期間が見込まれるため、パイロット授業を先行して始めておく、という手段を採ることになった。
先行してパイロット授業として、共通教育科目で開講しておく。
共通教育課程の利用出来そうな全学必修の既存科目は、下記の５科目であった。「異文化理解」＝語学が主体であり、DS教育と相性の合う内容ではない。「大学と地域」＝ 地域産業等の地域分野であり、DS教育と合う内容ではない。「初年次セミナー」＝文理混在クラスで、クラス内学生の理解レベルが異なり過ぎ、DS教育を行うには不適当。「情報活用」＝一部内容がDS教育と重なるため利用可能。担当教員もこの分野の専門家である。「基礎統計学入門」＝教授内容がDS教育と重なる。多くの理工系学部が必修もしくは選択必修指定している。以上の条件から、「情報活用」と「基礎統計学入門」をDS教育に利用する検討を始めた。
まず、全学の70%強を占める理工系でほぼ全学で教えている共通教育科目の「基礎統計学入門」に「数理データサイエンス教育」を2020年4月からパイロット授業として組み込む。残りの30％弱の文系には、理工系学部も含め、全学必修科目「情報活用基礎」に「数理データサイエンス教育」の内容を3コマ程度組み込むことにした。
全学必修化を、全学に諮問する。
DS教育への全学対応としては、公式に執行部会で取り上げていただき、各学部長を通して、DS教育の全学必修化を各学部に諮ってもらう要請を行った。前例にならえば、この作業で１年間程度は要すると予測された。全学での必修化が承認された段階で、先行していたパイロット授業を、公式に「全学必修化科目」に格上げする手順を想定していた。
急転直下で全学必修化の導入が決定
教育担当理事の尽力により、2019年7月19日（金）の大学本部の執行部懇談会において、DS教育を全学必修化し、2020年4月から開始することが、決定された。学長の判断に基づく、異例の速さでの決定であった。
この時点で、全学「実験科目等分科会」において「基礎統計学入門」をDS教育に活用することが5月の段階で既に承認されていた。全学必修化の方針決定を受け、全学「情報科目分科会」において「情報活用」の一部コマにDS教育を組み込むことが承認された。「情報科目分科会」が全学のDS教育の受け皿委員会として機能することを模索することになった。パイロット授業として計画していた授業を、公式に「数理データサイエンス教育」の実施科目とする道筋が定まった。この後の事務的な手続きとして、全学部でDS教育の必修化が了解された後、執行部の研究教育評議会で承認を経て、鹿児島大学としての機関決定となる予定である。
DS教育の全学必修を受けた新たな教育の展開
DS教育を鹿児島大学に導入していくに当たって、新たな方針を立てた。これは、文科省の方針でもある、初年次から専門課程までの積上方式を想定している。
A.　全学必修科目となっている「情報活用」の3コマ程度を数理データサイエンス教育の初歩的内容とする。この結果、全学部の学生が1年時に2～4コマ程度のDS教育を受講することになる。
B.　さらに、全学の理工系学部でのほとんどで受講させている「基礎統計学入門」の内容をDS教育の発展的内容と位置づける。
C.　各学部においてより専門的なDS教育を行い専門的内容とする。既に工学部では、2020年度から、DS教育の専門的な教授内容を全学部で必修化することが決まっている。
鹿児島大学おける今後のDS教育の展望
上記の、DS教育の初歩的内容と発展的内容に関しては、2020年度からの導入が決定され全学展開が可能な状況であるが、今後は各学部で行われるDS教育の専門的内容の教育展開をどのようにしていくべきなのかが問われている。大学において、数理データサイエンス分野の専門家を養成していくという文科省の方針からすると、各学部で展開されると予想されるこのDS教育の専門的内容が、実質的なDS教育に位置づけられる。しかしながら、鹿児島大学においては、DS教育の専門的内容の実施を具体化させている学部は工学部のみである。今後、全学の９学部がどのようにDS教育の専門的内容を展開していくのか、計画の策定が待たれる。
DS教育の全大学における全学必修化の方針の下、その専門的教育を担う中核分野である統計学教員の圧倒的な不足を、大きな問題点として挙げることができる。全国的に統計学の教員の引き抜きが激化している状況は否めない。鹿児島大学においても、理学部数理情報科学科には統計学講座があり、伝統的に統計学の人材を養成してきた伝統があった。しかしながら、定年退職と全国からの教員引き抜きによって、8名おられた統計学の教員が2019年10月現在、１名に激減してしまった。鹿児島大学の教養教育を担っている共通教育センターには2名の統計学の専門教員が所属していたが、2019年10月現在ゼロ名となり、DS教育の中心となるべき統計学の講義を非常講師に依存するという状況に陥っている。本原稿も、約半分は、DS教育の具体的内容で執筆される予定であったが、統計学教育の急な異動によって、導入の経緯の紹介しか出来ない状況に立ち至った。鹿児島大学では、今後、統計学教育の早急な立て直しが求められている。

要旨
潮間帯とは，潮の干満により水没と乾燥を繰 り返す場所で，温度，湿度，塩分，光量などの環 境条件の変化が急激で大きく，それに耐性を有す る生物からなる独自の生物群集が成立する．本研 究では，鹿児島県いちき串木野市大里川河口の潮 間帯において，タマキビガイ3種の殻高サイズ頻 度分布の季節変動を追うことにより，各々どのよ うな生活史を持つ種であるかを目的とした．本研 究の調査対象は，タマキビ科Littorinidaeのタマ キビLittorina brevicula (Philippi, 1844)，アラレタ マキビNodilittorina radiate (Souleyet in Eydoux & Souleyet, 1852)，ヒメウズラタマキビLittoraria intermedia (Philippi, 1846) の 3 種である．2017 年 12月から2018年11 月までの毎月1回，大潮ま たは中潮の日中の干潮時刻前後に大里川河口の潮 間帯上部に位置する石積護岸で調査を行った．毎 月各々約50個体を見つけ取りにて採取した．そ の後，研究室に持ち帰り，冷凍し乾燥させた後， 殻高・殻幅（mm）のサイズ測定を行い，記録した． ヒメウズラタマキビに関しては，生殖腺の観察も 同時に行った．サイズ頻度分布から，3種のうち，
タマキビに関しては，6月から8月の夏季に新た な個体が新規加入したと考えられるが，残りの2 種に関しては，1年を通してほとんど一定であっ た．これは，採取の際に個体のサイズが偏ったこ とやサイズによって生息地が異なる傾向があると いったことが考えられる．生殖腺観察では，卵子 は夏季を除く9ヶ月間で，精子は5月から7月の 個体から観察できたため，夏季に繁殖活動を行っ ていると考えられる．このことから，ヒメウズラ タマキビにおいても，夏季に新たな個体の新規加 入があると推測することが出来る．

Abstract
A study on the influence of altitude and the topography on vegetation and land snail fauna on the island of Amami Oshima was carried out at two sites, Kamiya and Yuwan Dake, in a natural forest. In Kamiya, where the topography was complicated, number of species was approximately 1.5 times that of a valley with the number of trunks being more than double. This is because there are many areas that the sun has difficulty reaching. On the other hand, Yuwan Dake has small gradiations of topography. As a result, the sun was pervasive throughout the whole of the investigation site. Therefore, the difference of the number of species depended the topography was small. Furthermore, Yuwan Dake has high altitudes and relatively low temperatures, thus small trees in Yuwan Dake are capable of growing thicker. In Kamiya, the topography more strongly influences land snail fauna than Yuwan Dake. Six of 26 species appeared only in Kamiya, while eight species appeared in only in Yuwan Dake. From these facts, it can be concluded that topography and altitude influence vegetation and land snail fauna on Amami- Oshima island.

Abstract
Seasonal change in the size frequency distribution of Clithon (Pictoneritina) oualaniensis (Lesson,1831) was investigated on a tidal flat in the Atago River estuary, Kyushu Island, Japan, from January 2001 to December 2003. This tidal flat is partially covered by a small mangrove forest that consists of Kandelia candel (L.) Cruce and Hibiscus hamabo Sieb. et Zucc. Frequency distributions of shell size showed that newly juveniles appeared in August or September. A great number of individuals died in the early summer of the following year. It was suggested that the lifespan of this species is generally about one year, though some individuals have lived for over one year. Most individuals were found in Station B where the influence of the fresh water is strong, where a few individuals were found in Station A, where influence of the sea water is strong in three years. The salinity of each Station fluctuated greatly. However, it is considered that C. oualaniensis is able to adapt itself to a saline environment immediately.

Since land snail's local speciation often informs intra- and inter-populatoion variations, we investigated the inter-population variation of Cyclophorus herklotsi Martens, 1860 and the usefulness of classifying and measuring Cyclophorus herklotsi with the shell measurement of a sample of 150 shells of 30 plants at Kagoshima (Shiroyama Park), Yaku-shima, Kuchierabu-jima, Kuchino-shima and Tanega-shima, Japan. We determined the distance between populations according to the Euclidean distance between the average values of each variable using the measurement methods of Kameda et al. and Urabe. We performed cluster analysis based on the numerical values generated and grouped of each population. With clusters based on the two measurement methods, we grouped samples of Shiroyama and Yaku-shima, Kuchierabu-jima and Kuchino-shima, and Tanega-shima respectively. Results from the two analytical methods showed no significant differences. Iindividuals of Tanega-shima tended to have larger shells than individuals of other production areas, while individuals of Kuchierabu-jima and Kuchino-shima tended to have smaller shells. Because these variations are categories of intra-population variation, these populations are not considered to be the a variant or subspecies. Accordingly, it is impossible to distinguish mainland populations from island populations only by analyzing shell form.

Abstract
The intra-specific variations in the Camaenid land snail, Satsuma tanegashimae (Pilsbry, 1901) which is distributed in the northern parts of Ryukyu Islands, are studied in terms of esterase isozymes. Some genetic variations were found in kidney esterase isozymes of this species. The results of electrophoresis showed that 7 gene loci (Es-1, Es-2, Es-3, Es-4, Es-5, Es-6, and Es-7) existed in esterase isozymes, and that 6 gene loci were polymorphic. It was revealed that 4 esterases (Es-1, Es-5, Es-6 and Es-7) are aliesterase-like in characteristics. The intraspecific variation of esterase isozymes in Satsuma tanegashimae (Pilsbry, 1901) was small relative to the interspecific variation among allied species in the same genus, Satsuma. Populations belonging to the Mishima-Tokara group were polymorphic in esterase isozyme heterozygosity. The Uji-gunto population had particular genes (Es-3Eu and Es-4Fu), not existing in other populations. This fact suggests that the Uji-gunto population has been isolated from other adjacent populations for a long period. The populations of Take-shima and Ioo-jima are similar to that of Kuro-shima in shell shape and esterase isozyme pattern (not existing gene Es-5G). All the biota of the former on these two islands (Take-shima and Ioo-jima) are thought to have been extinguished by the great volcanic explosion that took place about 7,300 years ago. Consequently, the populations of S.tanegashimae inhabiting these two islands may have been introduced from Kuro-shima. Genetic distances between the populations of S. tanegashimae using esterase isozymes and calculated by Nei's equation were correlated with Maharanobis D-square using 35 shell characters (r = 0.88). However, dendrograms drawn by cluster analysis based on the genetic distances showed different results from that of the shell characters. It seems that this fact was caused by the use of only one enzyme system (esterase) in this study. The precision of genetic distances was expected to become greater by increasing the number of isozymes.

ヒメウズラタマキビガイLittoraria (Littorinposis) intermedia (Philippi,1846)はタマキビガイ科Littorinidaeに属する雌雄異体の巻き貝である．タマキビガイ科は日本で8属19種が確認されている．ヒメウズラタマキビガイはウズラタマキビガイLittoraria scabra (Linnaeus,1758)の亜種で，フィリピンのネグロス島のJimamalianを模式産地として記載された．ウズラタマキビガイに似るが周縁の角張りが弱く，軸唇は紫色で，縫合の下の螺肋が強いこと，殻頂部でも螺層表面に螺肋が強いことで区別され，紀伊半島以南のインド・西太平洋，潮間帯，マングローブや内湾の岩礁上に生息する．日本では瀬戸内海や有明海などの内湾の岩礁や礫の間などに生息し，乾燥に対して耐久性が強い．本種の基礎生態を解析した報告例はこれまでほとんどなく不明な点が多い．本研究では，鹿児島湾喜入町愛宕川河口干潟及び祗園之州海岸において，ヒメウズラタマキビガイの殻幅サイズ頻度分布の季節変動を明らかにし，生活史を検討することを目的とした．さらに，環境攪乱の異なる2つの調査地での生活史を比較して攪乱の影響を考察し，垂直分布により季節ごとに生息場所がどのように移り変わるのかを明らかにする調査を行った．
　調査は鹿児島県揖宿郡喜入町を流れる愛宕川の河口干潟付近と鹿児島県鹿児島市清水町を流れる稲荷川の河口付近で行った．定期調査は2003年1月から2004年1月まで大潮または中潮の日中の干潮前後に，喜入では干潟付近の岩礁やコンクリート護岸の間隙，稲荷川河口では河口付近にある石橋記念公園の玉江橋下の石垣の２箇所で毎月１回行った．それぞれの調査地にいるヒメウズラタマキビガイを100個体以上採取し，ノギスで0.1mmの単位で殻幅を測定し記録した．垂直分布の調査は同期間内の2003年1月，3月，8月，10月，12月の各季節ごとに石橋記念公園で，30cm×30cmの石垣３つを一区画とし，河口面から陸上面に近づくにつれてA，B，C，D，Eの5区画に分け，それぞれに出現した本種の個体数と殻幅サイズを測定し記録した．
　定期調査の結果，4月と8月に1.5mm前後の幼貝の新規加入があり，幼貝はその後11.0mm前後に向けて成長を続ける傾向が見られ，2003年1月と2004年1月では，1年間で殻幅サイズ頻度分布のヒストグラムがひと山型からふた山型へと変化している事が分かった．また，喜入・石橋公園の生息環境の異なる２つの調査地において幼貝の新規加入や殻幅サイズ頻度分布で大きな違いが見られた．垂直分布においては，年間を通して個体のサイズは大きくなり成長が見られるが個体数は夏から冬にかけて減少し，生息場所も冬は陸上面から河口面へと移動している事がわかった．
　以上のことから，ヒメウズラタマキビガイは1年に幼貝の新規加入が春と秋の2回あり，幼貝はその後11.0mm前後に向けて成長する傾向があるが，年によって新規加入がある年とない年があると考えられる．また，冬の寒さに弱く，潮間帯の生息場所を逃れる移動性があることがわかった．さらに，生息環境の異なる調査地によって生活史に大きな違いが見られた．幼貝の新規加入が全く見られない石橋公園の個体群では，海岸整備に伴う攪乱による影響が非常に大きく，現在のヒメウズラタマキビガイの個体群は個体サイズが大きくなり，年を取っていく傾向にある．今後もこの状況がずっと続くようであれば，ヒメウズラタマキビガイはやがては寿命により消失し，将来は絶滅してしまう危険性がある事が明らかになった．

Abstract. The brackish and fresh water snail faunas of eight islands (Kuchinoshima, Yorontô and the Ôsumi islands, consisting of Tanega-shima, Yaku-shima, Kuchierabu-jima, Kuro-shima, Ioo-jima, and Take-shima) and two peninsulas (southern Ôsumi Peninsula and southern Satusma Peninsula) were investigated between 2007 and 2008. Twenty two brackish and fresh water snail species in 12 families were collected. Cluster analyses using Nomura-Simpson's coefficient suggest the absence of faunal sub-regions in this area, probably because there are few species in this area is small and many species in this area are widely distributed in Kagoshima. In the analyses of the species-area relationship, the value of z (slope of the regression line) for brackish and fresh water snail species was 0.3195, whereas the value of z was lower (0.2847) when marine snail species inhabiting river mouths. The higher z value for the brackish and fresh water species only was considered to be due to their property of oceanic island elements compared with marine species.

Abstract. The aim of this study is to clarify the relationship between the compositions of land snail fauna and the environment. We conducted two surveys for this study. In the first survey we collected land snails on Kuchino-shima island from 2008 to 2009, the Tokara Islands, Kagoshima, Japan and classified the investigation points of each islands by the environment (1: forest, 2: coastal forest, 3: pasture, 4: field). In the second survey we placed 19 research plots on Kuchino-shima in November 2008. Land snails were collected and vegetation, coverage of the herbaceous layer and top soil (pH, moisture and exchangeable calcium content) were surveyed for each plot. The species richness of land snails in pastures, coastal forests, and fields were discovered to be low compared to that in the forest from the first survey. There are many pastures on the Tokara Islands, which may strongly influence the diversity of land snails. In the second survey the species richness varied in each plot. There was a significant negative relationship between total number of land snails and the pH of the top soil. However there was not a significant negative relationship between the number of living land snails and the pH of the top soil, but there was a significant negative relationship between the numbers of dead land snails (empty shells) and pH. The shells of land snails are insoluble as the pH lowers. It is possible this result indicated the relationship between shells and pH. There was a significant negative relationship between the species richness and the density of trees. A higher density of trees decreases the light that reaches the forest floor and thus herb density. Because herbs are the habitat of some land snails, the above mentioned relationship might occur

Abstract. The mating behavior of the dioecious snail Cerithidea rhizophorarum was observed in the field. Copulation was observed from mid May to mid September, with a peak from late June to late July. Continuation of copulation was confirmed by flag mark, pair was discovered on rounds every 15 minutes. The time pair parted from one another was considered the copulation termination time; both initial and termination times were recorded. Initial times in the daytime had one peak period about two and a half hours before low tide, while nighttime pairs starting copulation were especially frequent over three hours, with low tide occurring in the middle of that period. Copulation frequency in the daytime and nighttime was much the same, but the duration of copulation in the nighttime (mean 51.1minutes) was significantly longer than that in the daytime (26.7minutes). Because there was no significant correlation between shell width between pairs, the mating of C. rhizophorarum was assumed to be random with respect to shell width. Courtship acceptor snails were significantly bigger than initiator snails. By dissection of copulation pairs, 5.45% of the pairs were found to be between individuals having male reproductive organs. The difference in sex ratio between the population on the tidal flat area and on the trees in the summer was significant: the ratio of females in the population on the trees was higher than that on the tidal flat area.

Because of small mobility, there may be only limited gene flow between populations of land snails. Thus, their populations may provide good opportunities to examine the process of local differentiation resulting in intraspecific variation. Theere have been studies of intraspecific variation among land snail populations in recent years. However, the outcome of analyses of variation of shell characters by different methods are not often comparable with one another. For these studies, reanalysis by recently developed common methods may provide new insights for understanding the process and pattern of local differentiation. In this study, we performed a morphological analysis of shell structure in a terrestrial pulmonate Satsuma tanegashimae by using new analytical methods. We compared the results with the previously studied materials between the present and previous methods. Our cluster analysis devided insular populations of Satsuma tanegashimae into two groups. Geographically close populations were not necessarily similar in morphology, suggesting that differentiation in shell structure does not necessarily occur according to geographical distance. The previous study with almost the same samples reported positive correlations between geographical distance with quantitative difference of shell traits. The present results suggest that gene flow even between adjacent islands are little. The shell characters examined here may rather have differentiated depending on local environments. . Further studies by means of molecular phylogeography are needed to evaluate the evolutionary implications of the present results.

Cerithidea(Cerithideopsilla) cingulate (Gmelin, 1791) belonging to the Potamididae is a tidal snail, is distributed along the west coast of the Pacific Ocean from Honshu to Kyushu, Japan. Seasonal change in the frequency distribution of shell lengths and the pattern of internal growth lines of the shell of this species were investigated in a tidal zone of Kiire, Kyusyu island, Japan.
Shell samples were collected monthly from July 2011 and 2013 in the tidal flat along the Kiire coast of Kagoshima Bay. In the Cerithidea cingulate population, the frequency distribution of shell lengths showed that newly-recruited juveniles (3-6 mm in shell length) appeared from October to December.
Shells were polished by a grinder, and internal growth lines located near shell apex were observed in section samples with a digital microscope. This species matures in the second year and forms Lip in shell. As the size of shell became larger in , Growth of shell stops in individual with Lip foemation. This species forms two white internal growth lines caused by a delay of growth of shell during one year. Individual which growth of shell stopped regularly forms two growth lines every year. These results show that the number of internal growth lines remains constant after the growth of shell stops. Therefore, the age cannot be determined in these fully-grown individuals. In many previous studies the age of a snail was estimated based on the frequency distribution of shell sizes, but this technique would lead to a mistake. According to our analysis of the internal growth lines of the shell, estimation of the accurate age of this snail seems impossible by means of shell size.

要旨 　鹿児島県の南に位置する奄美大島は、生物の多様性が高い地域である。陸産貝類は島嶼等の狭い地域での進化や種分化が著しい動物群であり、生物地理学においても指標生物として重要な動物群である。奄美大島の陸産貝類の生息現況を把握するための予備調査として、奄美大島のいくつかの地点を抽出し、陸産貝類の分布調査を行った。方法としては、各地点で採集した陸産貝を持ち帰って肉抜きして液浸標本にして同定を行った。今回調査したのは、龍郷町（用）、奄美市（朝仁、浜里、永田、和光）、瀬戸内町（西古見）、宇検村（芦検）である。今回は調査地点が少なく、土壌中に生息する微小貝の調査も行っていないため、採集できた全体の種数は少なかった。しかし、採集した場所から奄美大島固有の種が何種か確認できた。また、採集した種の多くは、鹿児島県のレッドデータに記載されているものも多かった。狭い島の中で多くの陸産貝の生存が危ぶまれていることも分かった。

要旨
　日本列島の南西端に位置する鹿児島県では、これまで離島の多くで陸産貝類の分布調査の研究が行われてきたが、県本土での詳しい生物地理学的な分布調査の研究はほとんど行われていない。そこで本研究は薩摩半島南部に焦点を当て、11地点での分布調査を行い、陸産貝類相を明らかにすることを目的とした。
調査は見つけ取りと土をふるう手法を用いて行い、必要な処理を行った後、同定、データ処理をし、まとめた。
調査の結果、鹿児島県薩摩半島南部に設置した11地点において、11科26属34種の合計694個体の陸産貝類を採集した。最も多くの種がみつかったのは南さつま地域で22種、
最も少なかったのは坊津地域で4種のみだった。5地点以上で出現した種は9種であったが、1地点でのみ出現した種は15種であった。
　今回の調査結果から、11地点中10地点で見られたアズキガイPupinella(Pupinopsis)rufaとタカチホマイマイタカチホマイマイ　Euhadra herklotsi nesiotica は南薩地域でのほとんどで生息している広い分布様式を持つ種と考えられる。また、最も種が見られた南さつま地域のような、ある程度人の手が入りやすい民家付近で陸産貝類は多く見つかり、反対に最も種数が少なかった坊津地域のような、人の手が入らない山の中や海に近い乾燥した土壌であるところではあまりみられない。しかし、類似性の面では、全地点間での類似性にあまり違いはない。また、希少性の面では、喜入北部、南さつま、鹿児島市福元町地域の点数が高く、絶滅危惧種の生息可能な地域と考えられる。今後は、もっと範囲を限定し、環境や植生などにも着目した分布調査を行っていく必要がある。

要旨
本研究の調査地とした鹿児島県鹿児島市街地地域は、九州の南西端、東に内湾である錦江湾を臨む地域である。市内にある多くの公園内や住宅近くにも自然林が今なお見受けられる地域でもある。しかし、県内の離島などに比べ鹿児島本土における調査(主にその地点に生息する生物群の種多様度)はほとんどなされておらず、特に、鹿児島市街地域の陸産貝類相の調査は詳しく行われていない。そこで本研究では、鹿児島県レッドデータブックに記載されている種も重要な調査対象の一つとして、鹿児島市街地域の自然林で見られる陸産貝類相の多様性を調査し、それをもとに鹿児島市内の陸産貝類の特徴や地点間の相違点を明らかにすることを目的とした。
　本調査は、鹿児島市内の神社・公園の自然林9地点にて主に土壌中、もしくは土の上に生息している陸産貝類の採集を行った。採集した陸産貝類は必要な処理を行った後に同定、種別にラベルをつけ保存した。その後地点ごとに多様度指数と類似度指数、群分析を行った。
　鹿児島市内の自然林が見られる神社や公園9地点において、調査及び同定作業の結果、柄眼目12種、中腹足目6種、足襞目1種の合計19種の陸産貝類が採集された。9地点のうち最も種数が多く見られたのはPt.7の城山公園であり、合計10種が採集された。最も種数が少なかったのはPt.1の烏帽子嶽神社で、柄眼目と中腹足目がそれぞれ1種ずつしか確認できなかった。また、鹿児島県のレッドデータブックの中の〈鹿児島県のカテゴリー区分定義〉に基づき、発見された各種の希少度評価を行ったところ、絶滅危惧Ⅱ類2種，準絶滅危惧6種，消滅危惧Ⅱ類4種，準消滅危惧5種，分布特性上重要2種が確認できた。
　本調査の結果は、レッドデータブックに記載されている種において、生息環境の比較的良好ではない都市近郊では多く確認できないだろうという予想とは異なり、多くの種が確認できた。その要因として、都市地域内の自然林保護区の指定，陸産貝類をエサとする野生の大型哺乳類の生息が認められないこと等が挙げられる。しかし、この結果の信憑性を高めるためには、本調査のみならず、さらなる細かいサンプリング、情報の集積が望まれる。

要旨　
　陸産貝類は、移動性が低く、進化が限られたごく狭い範囲で起こるため、地域的な種分化が多い。このような特性から、各地域における陸産貝類相の特徴をつかむのに非常に適している。鹿児島県北薩地方を中心に陸産貝類の分布調査を行い、各調査域における陸産貝類相を明らかにすることを研究目的とした。
　2014年4月から10月まで、鹿児島県北薩地方を中心に、13地点においてナメクジを除く有肺類を採集した。調査地へはJRで赴き、神社や山林、雑木林を中心に採集を行った。採集は主に見つけ取りで行った。そして、調査地の落葉層の土1L程度をビニル袋1袋に集め、研究室に持ち帰り、土をふるいにかけ、小型の貝や微小貝を採集した。生きていたサンプルは茹でて肉抜きをした後、軟体部はエタノール中に液浸標本として保存した。貝殻は簡単に水洗いし、乾燥機に１週間ほどかけ、同定した後、チャック付きビニル袋に入れて保存した。以上の作業終了後、多様度・類似度などのデータ分析を行った。
　13地点の調査の結果、計8科13属14種、288個体の陸産貝類（ナメクジを除く有肺類）を採集した。各調査地点において、種数をみると、出水市野田町下名中郡では最も多い9種を確認した。最も少なかったのは鹿児島市烏帽子獄神社で1種であった。種においては、出現地点数をみるとアズキガイ、アツブタガイ、ヤマクルマガイが最も多く、13地点中8地点で確認された。最も少なかったのはトクサオカチョウジガイ、ヒゴギセル、レンズガイでそれぞれ1地点でしか確認されなかった。
　全体的に草刈りなどにより、ある程度人の手が加えられた環境で多くの陸産貝類が見つかった。これは、人の手が加えられることにより、陸産貝類が生活していく上で重要な湿度が高くなり過ぎず、土壌の性質が適度に保たれるためだと考えられる。また、採集地の環境から、土壌の量や豊富な落ち葉も陸産貝類にとっては重要だとも考えられる。生息場所によっては、人工物をある程度利用しているものもおり、人間の作り上げた環境への順応が見受けられた。

Quantitative analyses were made for land snail fauna among the islands located in the Tokara Islands located in the northern part of the Ryukyu Islands and range over approximately 180 km from north to south in sourthern part of Japan (Fig.1). This area has been considered to be the border area between the Palearctic region and the IndoMalaya (Oriental) region form a point of view that is the biogeography of the animal. Faunal boundary between the Palearctic region and the IndoMalaya region wihich is called Watase Line, is pulled between Akuseki-jima and Kodakara-jima in Tokara Islands (Tomiyama, 1983).
The fauna and flora of the Tokara Islands are rather different from those of Osumi Islands (Tanega-shima/Yaku-shima), located to the north, and Amami Islands (Amami-oshima, etc.), located to the south (Kurozumi, 1994; Ichikawa et al., 2014). Previous biogeographical studies have regarded this island group as an ‘ecotone.’ For example, Tomiyama (1983) compared the land snail fauna of the Tokara group and surrounding islands and suggested that this ecotone is bordered by Kuchino-shima and Nakano-shima in the north and by Akuseki-jima and Takara-jima in the south. The fauna of Kuchino-shima, the northernmost island of the Tokara group, was rather similar to that of the Osumi Islands group. Later, when studying the intraspecific variation in Satsuma tanegashimae in this region, Tomiyama (1984, 1988) found that the population of the whole Tokara Islands (except for Kodakara-jima and Takara-jima) differs from those of the Osumi Islands group. To explain this discrepancy, we conducted a more detailed faunal survey on the land snail species in this region in 2007 to 2014. Land snails were collected manually, paying particular attention to leaf litter, tree trunks and dead trees. Faunal similarities among the islets are shown by Nomura-Simpson’s Coefficients (NSC; Simpson, 1949), and a dendrogram was drawn adopting the group average method (Fig.2). In total, 44 species belonging to 32 genera in 13 families were collected throughout this survey, among which eight species represented first records for particular islands (Fig. 4 & 5). In land snail fauna, Kuchino-shima formed a group with Nakano-shima, Taira-jima, Suwanose-jima and Akuseki-jima. Kodakara-jima and Takara-jima formed another cluster. A clear faunal boundary was recognized between Akuseki-jima and Kodakara-jima as documented in some other animal groups (Fig.3).
The fauna of the Tokara Islands (southern half of the northern Ryukyus) was recognized to be similar to that of the Osumi Islands (northern half of the northern Ryukyus). This result was not consistent with the assumption that the fauna of this island group might have been strongly influenced by the fauna of the Amami group (northern half of the middle Ryukyus). The present study did not suggest that the Tokara Islands might have sunk under the water, or that it had been never connected with adjacent land masses in the past. Instead, they were considered to have been connected with the Osumi Islands, later to have formed a separate land mass, and to have never sunk under the water.
Ichikawa et al. (2014) compared the habitation present situation of current land snail with the past studies in Tokara Islands. It was suggested that some species seemed to become extinct in Tokara Islands. In this study, it was revealed that most Species which inhabited Tokara Islands reduced the number of the habitation. In Tokara Islands, the protection measures of the animals and plants including land snail are not adopted. An emergency measure to protect a biota of Tokara Islands is expected in future.

Abstract. The Tokara Islands are located in the northern part of the Ryukyu Islands and range over approximately 180 km from north to south. The fauna and flora of the Tokara Islands are rather different from those of Tanega-shima/Yaku-shima, located to the north, and Amami-oshima, located to the south. Previous biogeographical studies have regarded this island group as an `ecotone.' For example, Tomiyama (1983b) compared the land snail fauna of the Tokara group and surrounding islands and suggested that this ecotone is bordered by Kuchino-shima and Nakano-shima in the north and by Akuseki-jima and Takara-jima in the south. The fauna of Kuchino-shima, the northernmost island of the Tokara group, was rather similar to that of the Yaku-shima/Tanega-shima group. Later, when studying the intraspecific variation in Satsuma tanegashimae in this region, Tomiyama (1984) found that the population of the whole Tokara Islands (except for Kodakara-jima and Takara-jima) differs from those of the Tanega-shima/Yaku-shima group. To explain this discrepancy, we conducted a more detailed faunal survey on the land snail species in this region. Land snails were collected manually, paying particular attention to leaf litter, tree trunks and dead trees. Faunal similarities among the islets are shown by Nomura-Simpson's Coefficients (NSC), and a dendrogram was drawn adopting the group average method. In total, 44 species belonging to 32 genera in 13 families were collected throughout this survey, among which eight species represented first records for particular islands. In land snail fauna, Kuchino-shima formed a group with Nakano-shima, Taira-jima, Suwanose-jima and Akuseki-jima. Kodakara-jima and Takara-jima formed another cluster. A clear faunal boundary was recognized between Akuseki-jima and Kodakara-jima as documented in some other animal groups. No significant relationship was confirmed between island area and species number for the Tokara group and Kuchinoerabu-jima.

鹿児島県鹿児島湾の愛宕川河口にはメヒルギのマングローブ干潟が存在し，北部太平洋域における北限のマングローブ林とされている．このマングローブ干潟には，各種の貴重な動物が生息していることが知られている．現在，この干潟を埋め立てて道路を建設する工事が進行中あり，北限のマングローブ林が壊滅の危機に直面している．過去の生息・分布状況が把握できる貝類相に着目し，生息現況評価を行った．絶滅危惧種を含むこれほど多様な貝類の貴重種が生息している地域は，鹿児島湾内では他に例がない．本地域の貝類相は6年間の調査間隔をおいてもほとんど変化がなく，貝類相が良好に維持されていることが判明した．これらの事実から，太平洋地域の北限の貴重なマングローブ生態系が良好に存続していることが明らかである．したがって，本地域の干潟生態系は，保全する価値が著しく高いと結論できる．

雌雄異体の巻き貝ヒメカノコガイのサイズ同類交配

　　鹿児島県鹿児島市喜入町のメヒルギ・マングローブ干潟において、ヒメカノコガイの交尾ペアーの観察を行った。ヒメカノコガイは乗っかり型の交尾行動であった。上位置個体が♂、下位置個体が♀の組み合わせペアーが85%と最も多かった。3回の観察においてすべて、本種はサイズ同類交配を示すとがわかった。今後、本種にサイズ同類交配が観察される要因を詳しく検討する必要がある。

We surveyed the land snail fauna of 13 localities including three limestone outcrops in Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia, in 2010 (Fig. 1). Land snails were sampled by hand collecting and identified to species level when possible. In total, 39 species were recorded (Uchida et al., 2013). Species diversity in limestone areas was higher than in non-calcareous areas. The genus Opisthostoma is known for its very strange shells, and we were able to record a number of aspects of its ecology.
Snails of the genus Opisthostoma were found in all three limestone outcrops (Figs. 2, 3). However, each outcrop supported a different Opisthostoma species: Opisthostoma concinnum Fulton, 1901 from a limestone outcrop called Hutan Simpan Buntai in Sukau, Opisthostoma mirabile Smith, 1893 from the Gomantong Caves limestone outcrop, and Opisthostoma lissopleuron lissopleuron Vermeulen, 1994 from the Madai Caves limestone outcrop. The three limestone outcrops were separated by more than 20 km from one another. Our results suggest that Opisthostoma snails may be restricted to areas with limestone resulting in a high degree of local endemism (Schilthuizen et al., 2005). These results, however, do not mean that each outcrop harbours only the single Opisthostoma species that we found in the present surveys.
Opisthostoma usually occurs on the walls of the limestone outcrops. We often found many Opisthostoma on these walls.
When a snail sticks to a vertical surface, such as these walls, the weight of the shell becomes a load that has to hang from the soft body. It is possible that the strange shells of Opisthostoma may have evolved to reduce the burden caused by the hanging shell.
Limestone hills form malacofaunal reservoirs by supporting large populations and high levels of diversity and endemism. Limestone is a non-renewable resource but has been exploited or degraded in Sabah (Korsgaad et al., 2000; Shilthuizen & Vermeulen, 2000; Shilthuizen et al., 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006a,b; Schilthuizen, 2006). Extinction of some site-endemic species has been recorded (e.g. Vermeulen, 1994). Limestone hills are surrounded by level ground and jungle vegetation and we found that Hutan Simpan Buntai in Sukau is threatened by land development for oil palm plantations. Many more sites may be lost in the near future, but the snails of most of the hills are not being investigated. It is estimated that there are many land snail species going extinct as a result of the development. Further research in support of conservation of biodiversity in Sabah is urgently needed.

　アフリカマイマイは東アフリカのサバンナ地帯を原産地とする外来種で、1930年代に日本に持ち込まれた。奄美群島では、農業害虫として、また、衛生害虫として身近に知られているアフリカマイマイであるが、国の法律で特殊病害虫指定を受けていることもあって、2007年に鹿児島県本土の出水市と指宿市で発見された際には大騒動になった。本種は広東住血線虫という寄生虫の中間宿主であり、これが人に感染すると脳神経系に入り、場合によっては重篤な神経障害を発症する。しかし、本種の感染ルートは限られ、生食のほか、最終宿主のネズミの糞の付いた野菜を洗わずに食べる、マイマイ類を叩きつぶした素手でおにぎりを食べる、等々の特殊な事例で感染の可能性がある。広東住血線虫の中間宿主はアフリカマイマイだけでなく、通常のマイマイ類やナメクジ類、カエル類、コウガイビル類、カワエビ類と多岐にわたっており、ことさらアフリカマイマイだけを怖がる必要はない。 　アフリカマイマイの農業害虫としての側面では、全世界の熱帯・亜熱帯の侵入地域において、爆発的な増殖を示し、農作物に甚大な被害を与え続けている。しかし、侵入後、10年以上経つと急激にその数を減らし、農業被害も軽減してしまう現象が経験的に知られてきた。何らかの捕食・被捕食の関係が成立するのだろうと推定されているが、これは汎世界的に見られる現象で、そのメカニズムは解明されていない。奄美・沖縄地域でも、1970年代初頭ぐらいまでの侵入初期には、畑地で足の踏み場もないくらいの密度にアフリカマイマイが増殖し、手が付けられない状態だったと地元の方々は異口同音にその経験を語って下さる。しかし、現在では、本種はそこそこに生息はしているものの、目立った農業被害は出ていない様である。 　本種の原産地は、降水量が少なく、降雨期と乾燥期が不定期なことが多く、非常に不安定な生息環境である。このような不安定な環境下で進化してきたため、侵入した地域でも、環境の不安定な攪乱地を好む傾向が強い。畑地やプランテーションは、在来の自然環境の中では攪乱された場所であり、本種が持つ攪乱地嗜好性という生態的特性が、農地という環境によく合っていたということになるのだろう。このため、本種は、森林の内部よりも林縁部のヤブ地を非常に好む傾向がある。最近、本種はブラジルに侵入したが、南米における本種の分布と発生状況と気候を関連づけたモデル分析でも、本種の気候嗜好の特性について似たような考察がされている。さらに、開発されたばかりの農地は、競争種や捕食者に欠けるという一般的な特性がある。農地やプランテーションでは、高い繁殖力・攪乱地嗜好性・他種の欠如、という3条件が揃って、本種は爆発的な増殖を示すのだと思われる。 　本種の畑地での農業被害が著しい場合、畑地の中、もしくは、その周辺に日中のねぐらが確保されている場合が多い。奄美大島の空港道路周辺では、道路脇のハイビスカスの植え込みの中や、道路際のやぶにはアフリカマイマイが見られるが、森の中に入るとアフリカマイマイをみかけることは稀である。畑地にアフリカマイマイの昼間のねぐらが少ない場合、その被害は著しく軽減されることが観察されてきた。特に、被害の著しい畑地は周囲を林で囲まれていることが経験的に知られてきた。本種は、プランテーション、集落地、畑地などに多く、自然林の中ではむしろ生息数が少ないことが報告されている。多くの研究において、アフリカマイマイは、昼間は畑地の周辺の森林と畑地の境界に存在するやぶの周辺に潜んでおり、夜間に畑地にはいだしてきて農業被害をもたらしている観察事例が報告されている。 　そこで、実際に本種が、畑地周辺のヤブにおいて生息密度が高く、森の奥には生息していないのか、密度調査を行ってみた。また、昼間のねぐらが本当に林縁部に集中するのか、電波発信機を直接装着し、追跡観察を行った。過去の研究で、本種がねぐらと畑を往復する帰巣行動が観察されているため、本種の帰巣行動も検討してみた。 　本種は、昼間は、道路から1.5～2.5mほど奥に入ったヤブ付近に最も多く、その周辺に潜んでいることがわかった。同じ日の夜間になると、道路際の草地に這い出してきていた。夜間密度は、ねぐらから這い出して活動することにより、調査区全体に密度が分散する訳ではなく、むしろ草地の密度が高く、本種が昼間は林縁部のやぶに潜んでおり、夜間に摂食や繁殖行動のために草地の開けた場所に出てくる基本行動を持つことが明らかになった。また、電波発信機による追跡観察の結果、本種は森林の奥に潜むことはなく、ねぐらの移動もあまりしていないことも解った。振動センサー付きの電波発信機を装着した個体の追跡調査の結果、本種は、晴天時には、完全な夜行性の行動習性を示すこともわかった。これらの観察結果は、アフリカマイマイの畑地の被害は夜間に集中して生じ、昼間は、畑地周辺のやぶに潜んでいる、というこれまでの観察結果と一致した。 　電波発信機での追跡観察では、アフリカマイマイは幼貝の頃は、移動性が強く、直線的に移動している。未成熟の幼貝の直線移動距離（昼間のねぐら場所の移動）は、半年で約500 mという結果が出ている。成熟すると、定着性が強くなり、約5 m四方の同じような範囲を動き回っていることがわかった。移動は直線距離に直すと、一晩に10 ～ 20 mくらいは動いている。成熟個体は、帰巣性が強く、毎晩、同じねぐらに潜んでいることが多い。畑地や道路脇では、周辺の林縁部のヤブに昼間は潜んで、夜間にはいだしてくる生活をしている。 　クリスマス島の研究例では、本種が自然林に生息できない原因は、自然林に生息するレッドクラブというカニが本種を強く捕食するためである、と結論付けている。しかし、小笠原諸島や奄美・沖縄地域、ブラジルでの研究事例では、そのような強い捕食圧は観察されていない。 一連の研究の考察の結果、アフリカマイマイが自然林内にあまり見られないのは、捕食などの他種との関係に因るではなく、本種が攪乱地を好む生態特性を持つためであり、その攪乱地嗜好性が、世界中に分散して、農業害虫となった本質的特性であろうと結論付けられている。 冨山清升（とみやま　きよのり） 1960年神奈川県生まれ。鹿児島大学理工学研究科地球環境科学専攻准教授。東京都立大学理学研究科生物学専攻博士課程修了。理学博士。国立環境研究所野生生物保全研究チーム、茨城大学理学部地球生命環境科学科を経て、1998年から現職。陸産貝類（でんでんむし）や干潟の貝類を対象として、進化や生態学、行動学に関する研究を行う。アフリカマイマイは、基礎生態の観点から研究を行ってきた。

奄美群島のデンデンムシ デンデンムシ、もしくは、カタツムリは、学術用語では陸産貝類（陸貝）と呼びならわされています。文字通り、陸に生息する貝類を指します。陸貝は、他の動物群に比べてその移動能力が非常に低いのが特徴です。すなわち、非常に狭い地域の中での特殊化や進化が生じやすい動物として知られてきました。ハワイ島では、「谷ごとに種が異なる」と比喩されるほどに狭い地域ごとに異なる種が生息しています。 奄美群島は、固有の動植物が多数分布していることで有名な地域ですが、陸貝にも多くの奄美固有種が知られています。奄美大島には約60種、喜界島には約25種、徳之島には約55種、沖永良部島には約30種、与論島には約20種程度の陸貝が記録されていますが、その多くが、奄美群島の固有種、もしくは、南西諸島の固有種で占められます。アマミヤマタカマイマイ、キカイキセルモドキ、トクノシマビロウドマイマイ、オキノエラブギセル、等々、島の名前を冠した種名を持つ陸貝が多数生息しています。沖縄県から鹿児島県本土まで生息する動物相を分析した研究では、奄美群島は独特な陸貝相を形成していることが解っています。奄美群島の陸貝調査の歴史は意外と古く、明治時代には主要な陸貝の種が学術的に記録され、おおまかな調査が完了しています。しかし、詳細な生息現況が判ってきたのは、地元の学校の先生を中心とした方々の精力的な調査が行われる1970年代以降です。奄美大島在住の重田弘雄先生や沖永良部島在住の宗 武彦先生は、奄美群島の陸貝相を解明された功労者として記憶されるべき存在です。 それぞれの島の陸貝相には、その島の地質的な歴史が反映されている事例が見られます。例えば、ハブのいない島として知られている喜界島と沖永良部島は、島の大半が水没した地質的歴史があるのですが、島の標高の高い地域には琉球石灰岩が存在せず、完全水没はしなかったとされています。このため、この二島には、エラブマイマイ（沖永良部島）やキュウシュウケマイマイ（喜界島）などの固有種も分布しています。奄美大島は、面積も広いため、オオシマギセルガイやオオシマアズキガイ等の数多くの固有種陸貝が知られています。しかし、その生息地は、奄美大島でも本来の植生である照葉樹林に限られており、このような自然林に依存する固有種陸貝は生息地を減らしつつあります。陸貝は普段は目に付かない地味な存在ですが、地域固有種が多く、同じ場所での生息種数も多いため、地域の自然度を測るバロメーターとして活用できることが知られています。レッドデータブック（絶滅の恐れのある生物種リスト）の全国版や鹿児島県版にも、多くの奄美群島の固有種陸貝が掲載されています。奄美群島の生物多様性を保全していくためには、固有種陸貝の保全＝地域の自然の保全であることを理解した上で、これらの陸貝の貴重種の保護もはかっていかなければならないでしょう。

陸産貝類は、他の動物群と比較して移動能力が劣るため、個体群間の遺伝子交流が極めて少ない動物群であり、局所的な特殊化が起こりやすい。本研究では、鹿児島県の島嶼に生息するタネガシママイマイの殻標本の形態解析を行い、本種における種内変異を殻形質に基づいて明らかにすることを目的とした。また、以前独自の方法で行われた本種の殻形質を用いた形態解析 (Tomiyama, 1984) の結果と、近年の手法を用いた本研究とを比較することも目的とした。ユークリッド距離を用いてクラスター分析を行った結果、トカラ列島中部・種子・屋久・宇治・草垣，トカラ列島北部・三島の2つのグループに分割出来た。マハラノビス距離を用いた場合は、トカラ列島・宇治・草垣，屋久・種子，三島の3つに分かれた。マハラノビス距離を用いた場合、地理的に近い個体群が同じグループに集まる傾向が強かったが、Tomiyama (1984)とは異なる結果となっていた。地理的に離れた個体群間で形態が類似するのは、陸続きだった時代に分散した個体群が、海に隔てられた後、環境条件などに応じて独自の形態変化を遂げ、その結果形態が類似したからだと考えられる。

　ウスカワマイマイは、作物や苗に付着した移動によって、全国的に広がっており、国内外来種としての側面を持っている。ウスカワママイの亜種には、本土に分布するウスカワママイ、大隅諸島～鹿児島県南部に分布するとされるオオスミウスカワマイマイ、奄美群島に分布するとされるキカイウスカワマイマイ、原名亜種で沖縄群島に分布するとされるオキナワウスカワマイマイ、隠岐に分布するとされるオキウスカワマイマイの5亜種が記載されている。今回検討した、オキウスカワマイマイを除く4亜種は、殼の形態が連続的で区別できないため、mtDNAのCOI領域の塩基配列を求め、各島嶼に分布する個体群間の類縁関係の分析を最尤法を用いて行った。その結果、従来認められていた4亜種は区別がつないことがわかった。島嶼間の変異よりも、本土集団間の変異の方が大きい事例もあった。島間の物資の流通による国内外来種の影響を考慮しても、本種をいくつかの亜種に分けることが不可能であることが解った。また、タママイマイとされることもある西表島のオキナワウシカワマイマイもウスカワマイマイと同じグループであり、台湾に分布するタママイマイとの類縁関係も再検討を要することが解った。

The traditional classification of land snails has heavily relied to the comparative morphology of shell. However, shell characters are susceptible convergence due to similar ecological requirements or can be highly variable due to geographic isolation and random genetic drift. Therefore, the information based on only shell morphologies is not enough for definite identification.
Recent studies are conducted by integration of various approaches, including analyses of shell and anatomical characters and assessment of genetic variation. Those studies provided new imformations into existent classification.
Moreover, land snails invite regional differentiation because of their low mobility. Therefore, they provide informative information for biogeographical study.
The genus Cyclophorus has a wide-ranging distribution from Southeast Asia to East Asia and belongs to terrestrial prosobrances having a operculum. The intraspecific shell morphology of this genus is variable.
Five Cyclophorus species inhabit Kagoshima prefecture; Cyclophorus herklotsi MARTENS, 1860, Cyclophorus hirasei PILSBRY, 1901, Cyclophorus oshimanus KURODA, 1928, Cyclophorus kikaiensis PILSBRY, 1902, Cyclophorus turgidus (PFEIFFER, 1851). These five species that previously had been described on the basis of shell characters only. The phylogenetic relationship of these species has never studied before.
The objective of this study was to revise the five Cyclophorus species which inhabit Kagoshima prefecture by using morphological and molecular phylogenetic approaches.
Shell morphology of these five species showed geographic variation. Patterns and sizes of shells of those showed individual differences.
I sequenced 548bp of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene in the genus Cyclophorus and constructed phylogenetic trees, using Neighbor-joining method and Maxumim-likelihood method.
Sequences of Amami-oshima devided Cyclophorus into two groups largely. One group was composed Cyclophorus from the north peninsula named `Kasari-hanto' of Amami-oshima. The other group was composed of Cyclophorus from the middle part of Amami-oshima to Tokuno-shima.
Cyclophorus of Tanega-shima & Yaku-shima were included in the group of species from the mainland of Kagoshima; Cyclophorus herklotsi MARTENS, 1860. This result was consistent with traditional taxonomy.
Thus, classification based on morphological data was very unsatisfactory in the genus Cyclophorus. This study suggested the necessity to revise the existent taxonomy of the five Cyclophorus species.
This study found that shell morphology of Cyclophorus showed multiple phenotype. To identify species of this genus, it is the most effective tool to use molecular phylogeny analyses.
