Using duality theory of semidefinite programming, Linial, London and Rabinovich obtained a characterization of the least possible distortion of embeddings of finite metric spacesinto Euclidean space. We will describe how this result is applied to determine the Euclidean distortion of finite generalized polygons in joint work with Toshimasa Kobayashi and discuss another method based on generalizations of Wirtinger inequality by Gromov for some class of polytopes.

非線形スペクトルギャップは有限グラフと距離空間のペアに対して定義される量で、幾何学的群論、距離空間の幾何学の様々な場面で現れるが、その値を厳密に求めることは非常に難しく、GromovによるWirtingerの不等式を用いたPansuによる計算がほとんど唯一の計算例であった。
ここで用いられたCAT(0)空間に対するWirtingerの不等式の証明を見直し、その変種を作ることで、近年、様々な計算例が得られつつある。
講演では、非線形スペクトルギャップの研究の背景から始めて、Wirtingerの不等式の変種とは何か、そこから何が分かってきたのかについてお話ししたい。

Zukによるproperty(T)のスペクトルギャップによる判定条件や、井関納谷による固定点性質に対するWangの不変量を用いた十分条件は、いずれも離散群が等長に作用できる距離空間に制限を与えるものであり、超剛性の幾何学的研究の重要な一歩でもある。
講演の前半では、この井関納谷の定理に対するGromovのアイデアに基づく別証明を与え、後半では一つの応用例として、PGL(3,Q_p)の格子が非正曲率リーマン多様体の基本群になり得ない群の例を与える(これはGromovのある予想の反例でもある)ことについてなるべく予備知識を仮定せずに理解できるように解説する。

有限グラフに対する組合せラプラシアンのスペクトルギャップの非線形類似として、
距離空間をターゲットとする非線形スペクトルギャップを定義することができ、
この量が幾何学的群論や距離空間の幾何学で重要な役割を果たしている。
この講演では、Gromov が示した Wirtinger の不等式を用いることで、
幾つかのグラフに対して非正曲率空間に対する非線形スペクトルギャップの
シャープな評価が得られることを紹介する。

As a nonlinear analogue of spectral gap of the combinatorial Laplacian of a finite graph,
we can define the nonlinear spectral gap of a finite graph with respect to a metric space
and this quantity plays an important role in geometric group theory and metric geometry.
In this talk, we give an alternative proof of Wirtinger inequality proved by Gromov
and as an application, we give some examples of sharp estimates of the nonlinear spectral gaps
with respect to CAT(0) spaces.

非正曲率空間上の任意有限個の点に対して,
Gromov は``Wirtinger の不等式''を示した.
これは古典的な Wirtinger の不等式の離散版を系として含む不等式の族であり,
距離空間の幾何学や幾何学的群論において重要な
非線型スペクトルギャップを評価する上で本質的な役割を果たす.
Gromov はこの不等式たちが``4-point condition''という距離空間の
条件から導出できるかという問いを提示している.
講演では, この問いの肯定的な解決とその手法の応用について述べる.

In the study of measure concentration inequalities on CAT(0) spaces,
Gromov proved the Wirtinger inequalities for CAT(0) spaces.
He asked if a weaker condition Cycl_4(0) implies all the Wirtinger inequalities.
The main purpose of my talk is to answer this question affirmatively.
This talk is based on a joint work with Tetsu Toyoda and Takato Uehara.
